When I was younger, I told myself that I would one day talk to whales. It was only a joke, so despite my fascination with languages and marine biology, and with investigation in general, I focused on charting a path to law school. I kept venturing in directions, tentatively peeking into the world of forensics, linguistics, and biotechnology, before gathering all of these eclectic experiences to dive deep into science, heading on the path to marine science. I've become especially interested in marine infectious disease and the role of the microbiome in marine invertebrate innate immunity, and I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped me along the way. While I'm not working with whale songs or dolphin clicks yet, I'm sure I'll find myself walking down that path one day as well.
